What happens to what you send

It is used to answer your inquiry and to carry out the work. It is never sold or shared, and you are never added to a mailing list.

What is collected

Through the inquiry form: your name, email address, telephone number if given, the location of the property, your deadline, what you say about the objects, and any photographs you attach.

Automatically: this site uses no advertising trackers and sets no advertising cookies. Any analytics record page views without cookies or personal information, in aggregate.

What it is used for

  • Answering your inquiry and preparing a written estimate
  • Carrying out the assignment, if the practice is engaged
  • Meeting record-keeping obligations under USPAP

That is the complete list. Information is never sold or shared with marketers, and inquirers are never added to a mailing list.

Photographs of your property

Images you send are confidential and are used only to scope and carry out the work. Photographs of client property are never published, on this site, on a Google Business Profile or in marketing, without your written permission, requested separately and specific to the images concerned.

Who else sees it

Only the people the work requires: your attorney or accountant where you have asked for their involvement, a conservator where condition needs a specialist opinion, or a subject specialist whose second opinion an object needs. You are told before anyone is involved.

Form submissions pass through the website host and the email provider, which handle the data in transit and storage as any such service does.

Confidentiality

Appraisal assignments are confidential under the USPAP Ethics Rule. Results are disclosed only to you, to the intended users named in the report, to anyone you authorize in writing, or where a court or a properly constituted authority requires it.

How long it is kept

Workfiles and reports are retained for at least five years after the assignment, as USPAP requires, and for at least two years after the final disposition of any judicial proceeding in which testimony was given. Inquiries that do not become assignments are deleted within twelve months.

Requesting deletion

Send an email. Whatever is not required to be kept will be deleted, with a plain explanation of what must be kept and why. There is no form and no charge.
